Privacy

last updated 21 Oct 2026

This site collects as little about you as it can. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking, so there is no cookie banner. This page says what is collected, why, by whom, and for how long.

Who is responsible

The controller under the GDPR is Willem Schots: Softwareentwicklung, Jarrestraße 98, 22303 Hamburg, Germany, w@willem.dev. See the imprint for full details. "We" on this page means Willem Schots.

Hosting

This site is hosted by Netlify, Inc., 101 2nd Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA. When you visit a page, Netlify's servers log the request: your IP address, the page, the time, and your browser's user agent. Netlify keeps these logs for 30 days to keep the site secure and working, then deletes them.

  • Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Transfer outside the EU: Netlify processes data in the USA under a data processing agreement. The transfer relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses (Art. 45 and 46 GDPR).

Newsletter

If you subscribe, we store your email address to send you updates about Verbond. We use Kit (ConvertKit LLC, USA) to store the list and send the emails. Kit also records when and from which IP address you subscribed and confirmed, so your consent can be shown.

  • Double opt-in: you only receive updates after you click the confirmation link Kit sends you.
  • Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email, or by emailing us. Withdrawing doesn't affect emails sent before.
  • How long: until you unsubscribe. We then delete your address, except for the record that you unsubscribed.
  • Transfer outside the EU: Kit processes data in the USA under a data processing agreement and standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 GDPR).

When you submit the form, your browser sends it directly to Kit, and Kit's privacy policy applies to its own site.

Email

If you email us, for example to ask for early access or report a security issue, we use your address and message to reply and to follow up. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you, or taking steps before a contract at your request (Art. 6(1)(f) and (b) GDPR). We keep the conversation as long as it is needed for that, and longer only where tax or commercial law requires it.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time:

  • what data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR),
  • to correct it (Art. 16) or delete it (Art. 17),
  • to restrict how we use it (Art. 18),
  • for a copy in a common format (Art. 20),
  • to stop using it where we rely on legitimate interest (Art. 21).

Email w@willem.dev. You can also complain to a data protection authority. Ours is Der Hamburgische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, Ludwig-Erhard-Straße 22, 20459 Hamburg.
